Ike Uche competing with Cristiano Ronaldo for top La Liga scorers

 Ikechukwu Uche, the Villareal striker has scored the first goal for his team against Almeria which gave then a 2-0 win.

The match conducted on Sunday evening made the Nigerian striker to bag his 12th goal in La Liga.

A third minute goal from the Nigerian helped the Yellow Submarine on their way before a late penalty goal from Soriano cemented the victory over the opponents who had Nigerian midfielder Ramon Azeez in their midst.

Uche joined Villareal in 2011 and he has scored 26 goals up to date.

His tally now puts him in third place on the Liga goal scorers chart behind Cristiano Ronaldo who is in front on 21 goals and Diego Costa with 19 goals. Uche is currently tied with Antoine Griezmann on 12 goals.

He also holds the record for the highest scoring Nigerian in Spain after breaking Finidi George’s haul of 11 goals with Real Betis in the 1990s.

Villareal are now in fourth spot on the table.
