Rogério Ceni announces retirement from football at the end of this season

" I will not defer. This is my last year , and not only São Paulo but as a professional soccer player ," said the athlete, at a press conference at the training center of the Tricolor .

Ceni , 41 , agreed two years ago to postpone retirement and to renew the contract . The São Paulo fan idol admitted , however , that expects a different end of the year 2013 , which ended without titles and achievements of many physical problems .

" Honestly , I'm feeling better than in the first half of 2014 than in 2013. Was my most difficult year because the emotional side was very heavy . Hopefully we have a different way in 2014 ," he said .

The goalkeeper is in São Paulo since 1990 , and since then has 1,119 official matches . In all , he scored 113 goals . The big moment in his career was in 2005 when he was the biggest name of the conquest of the World Club Championship , one of the 17 titles won in Sao Paulo .
