Success of last years press Uruguay in the Cup, says Diego Forlan
Striker Diego Forlan, one of the stars doUruguai acknowledged that the successes achieved by the national team in recent years increased the pressure in the World Cup in Brazil.
World champion, Uruguay won the Copa America final in 2011, and four years ago was the fourth in the South Africa World Cup
"Uruguay is a small country but with a lot of history in football. Conquered so many things that people always expect us to do great things. But with everything that happened in the last four years, expect a lot more," Forlan said in an interview with British newspaper The Guardian, published on Friday.
"The people of Uruguay hopes that things will go better than the last World Cup," he added.
Currently plays for Cerezo Osaka, Japan, Forlan was the highlight of Uruguay in the last World Cup and was named player of the tournament.
In Brazil, the 35 year old can go back to being the protagonist, as the top scorer Luis Suarez, operated in late May of a left knee injury, does not reach 100% for the World and can even stay out of debut against Costa Rica, Saturday at 16h (GMT), in Fortaleza.
In Group D, still faces Uruguay in the first round two other teams which have also been world champions England and Italy.
